BNMS Spring Meeting 2019

The annual spring meeting of the BNMS was held in Oxford on April 1-3, 2019.  The King’s Centre was formerly the home of Oxford Instruments which, in 1980, developed and built the first whole-body superconducting MRI magnet at this site.  Continuing the historical theme in the conference foyer, an exhibit titled, ‘Dr Saul Hertz: the discovery of the medical uses of radioiodine’ included personal correspondence, newspaper articles, journal entries, photos and the handwritten data charts from the first series of patients treated with RAI and highlighted Dr Hertz’s journey as the ‘father of theranostics’.

This year’s annual lecture, ‘FDG PETCT and tuberculosis – the great imitator’ was given by Professor Jamshed Bomanji from UCLH and was followed by the highlights lecture presented by Dr Alp Notghi and Dr Bill Thomson from Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust.

Next year’s spring meeting will be held at the ACC Liverpool, May 17-20, 2020.
