Kent treatment centre picks compact, versatile system

Senior therapy radiographer Sheila Nakabuye, care coordinator Sanell Pienaar, Penny Bohn Living Well coordinator Julie Wilson, Philips Healthcare imaging systems account manager Barry Heathcote, lead therapy and diagnostic radiographer Erna Joubert, dosimetrist Susannah Jansen van Rensburg, senior oncology nurse Hazel Harrop and deputy manager Dawn Bell.

GenesisCare West Malling Diagnostic and Treatment Centre opened its doors in January this year to patients in the Kent area.  Equipped with a Philips DuraDiagnost radiography system, the centre is the latest to be opened in the UK by GenesisCare.  It specialises in oncology, offering a range of services including a one-stop environment for diagnostic studies, covering x-ray, ultrasound, CT and mammography, as well as radiotherapy and chemotherapy.  It also offers patients supplementary therapies through its partner charity Penny Brohn Living Well.

Lead therapy and diagnostic radiographer Erna Joubert said: “We selected the DuraDiagnost for is versatility and compact design.  It is a perfect addition to our range of diagnostic services, which are mainly focused on oncology, supporting the radiotherapy and chemotherapy patients, but also expanding towards our one-stop breast clinic and GP referrals.

“The system is ideal for a smaller space and can do an incredible range of studies – I would recommend it to any centre.  The Philips team has been very professional throughout the process.”
