Patient’s legacy enables purchase of mobile system

Kent and Canterbury Hospital’s radiology department has benefited from a generous legacy left by Janine Farwell who was treated at the hospital for breast cancer.  Her bequest to the hospital’s League of Friends was made in thanks for the care she received at a difficult time.

Trust charitable funds, in conjunction with the Friends of the William Harvey Hospital, purchased two Fujifilm FDR Go mobile x-ray units, with a third unit for the Kent and Canterbury Hospital funded largely by the bequest.  East Kent Hospitals Trust also invested in eight Fujifilm D-Evo II retrofit detectors that enabled it to upgrade old CR equipment to DR without the expense of installing new rooms.  The equipment will increase the throughput and efficiency at the three main trust sites.

“We first saw the Fujifilm mobiles and retrofit solutions at UKRC in 2016 and were very impressed,” said principal radiographer at Kent and Canterbury Hospital Lee Gavin.  “We chose Fujifilm for the excellent image quality, the low dose and the light, versatile D-Evo II detectors with Virtual Grid.”
