Fairford upgrades scanner in first-ever CT ScanBox

Fairford Medical has completed an upgrade to the scanner installed in its first CT ScanBox. Brought to market two years ago, the CT ScanBox was initially fitted with a Canon Medical Systems Aquilion 64. However, demand for higher quality, lower dose, reliable CT scanners was fuelled by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fairford Medical decided to replace the older system with an Aquilion Prime 160-slice CT in order to offer a suitable unit as quickly as possible when the crisis was reaching a peak. It took the company eight weeks to completely upgrade the ScanBox to accept the new unit and commission it.

Fairford Medical’s Lee Hansford and Nichola Baron oversaw the project from start to finish, liaising with the specialist coachbuilders and Canon to ensure the completion date was achieved and the unit was ready for rental.
